Not too long ago, California experienced some crazy weather. Record heat rocked this small mountain town nearly killing many gardens. John, however, was definitely prepared. His grow is well equipped with water and all the necessary resources. A little bit later, growers braced while wildfires seared through the mountainsides. Now, they are afraid of the cold.
“We had to do a hack and hang. It got way too cold, I said to take them down a lot earlier than usual.”
Normally, John would do a process called ‘bucking’ (or deboning). Staffers would completely snip the buds and their surrounding leaves with the right scissors, maintaining the branches so that an additional bud could grow in its place – if the weather permits of course. They then ran all the buds through a special machine to completely separate the leaves and stems, and then hand trimmed the resulting product for an artisan flower.
